Caroline Grace Berry

d. November 22, 2018

Caroline Grace Berry, age 16, from Spanish Fort earned her angel wings early Thanksgiving morning, November 22, 2018, after a brave battle with cancer.   Caroline was born on June 24, 2002 in Mobile, AL to parents Gordon and Jennifer Berry. She was a junior at Spanish Fort High School. Caroline was a bright light to all who knew her, a loyal friend, fun-loving, sweet and sassy girl who always had a smile on her face and could always put a smile on others. Caroline loved her friends with all her heart.  She loved all things country music, painting and calligraphy, the beach, playing sports, especially volleyball and her loyal and furry companion, Buddy. Caroline was courageous, selfless and inspirational to all who knew her. Caroline is survived by her parents, Gordon and Jennifer Berry; her sister, Lauren; her brother, Logan; her paternal grandparents, Charles M. and Julia C. Berry; her maternal grandfather, John R. Lyles, Jr.; Aunts and Uncles, Paul and Torrey Berry, Phillip and Mary Helen Berry and Jason and Wendy Lyles; Cousins, Jason Stanley, Andrew, Jacob and Katie Berry and Brooke and Reagan Lyles.  Caroline is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother and namesake, Carol S. Lyles. We are so grateful to all the doctors, nurses, child life specialists and many others that worked so tirelessly to cure our sweet girl. They have become a second family to us over the last two years and words will never be able to adequetely express our gratitude. You loved her through her sass like she was yours and she loved each and every one of you beyond measure.  Caroline passionately and selflessly became an ambassador for childhood cancer.  She not only embraced her battle with cancer she fought to raise awareness and funding so that no other child would ever have to endure the same battle.  She has been an inspiration as she led a community wide campaigns and raised over $15,000 for research during the month of September.  Thanks to the unwavering support of our family, friends and community, Caroline was able to achieve her goal of having a Hero Fund in her name through The St. Baldrick’s Foundation. A celebration of Caroline’s life will begin with a visitation at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. with the funeral service immediately following.  All are invited.  In lieu of flowers, please help us to continue to grow Caroline’s legacy and her passion for raising awareness and funding for childhood cancer research by donating to her Berry Strong Fundraiser through The St. Baldrick’s Foundation. www.stbaldricks.org/fundraisers/BerryStrong ARRANGEMENTS BYWOLFE-BAYVIEW FUNERAL HOMES& CREMATORY, INC.27409 US HIGHWAY 98DAPHNE, AL 36526251-625-2900
