Carl Leroy Kollmar, age 74, of Summerdale, AL, died on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at his home. He was born July 23, 1945 in Norfolk, NE, the son of Carl Albert Kollmar and Helen Louise Shell-Govern. He attended Foley High School and at the age of 17, enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served from 1962-1965 and was stationed in Dominican Republic and also Alaska. He also played on the Army football team and was on the Drill Guard for his unit. He worked as a truck driver for many years. He loved watching Nascar and Auburn football. Carl is survived by three daughters, Teressa Kollmar (Clint) Jones of Amarillo, TX, Michelle Kollmar-Taylor (Bryan) Taylor of Vernon, TX and Mary Lyn “Mamie” (Steven) Ryan of Robertsdale, AL; one son, Johnny (Vicky) Jernigan of Loxley, AL; one sister, Dixie Trinidad of Duncan, OK; five brothers, Roger (Norma) Kollmar of Riverside, CA, Melvin Kollmar of Thornton, CO, Robert ( Barbara) Kollmar of Tualatin, OR, Dennis Kollmar of Tulsa, OK and Theodore (Pam) Kollmar of Norfolk, NE and best friend, Clifford Calhoun of Summerdale, AL; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Duane Kollmar and four brothers, Carl Floyd Kollmar, Elton Kollmar, Edward Kollmar and David Kollmar. A memorial service will be held by the family at Loxley Church.
