Bruce Paul Asman

Bruce Paul Asman, age 77, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023. Bruce was born in Saginaw, Michigan on August 6, 1946 to Clarence and Doris Asman. Bruce grew up in Bay City, Michigan and attended Emmanuel Lutheran and Bay City Central High School. After high school, he attended Delta Community College and Mott Community College and completed the General Motors Tool and Die Apprenticeship Program. Bruce worked for General Motors at their Metal Fabricating plant in Flint, Michigan as a journeyman Die Maker for 39 years. For the last 14 years of his career, he served as an appointed official for the United Auto Workers local 659. Bruce was a combat veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Army's 199th Infantry Brigade and 25th Infantry Division. Bruce married Rose Mary Mackay Goff on October 13, 1972. They had two children, Kevin and Traci, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2022. Bruce and Rose Mary moved to Foley, Alabama in 2015 from Lennon, Michigan. Bruce was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, helping build theatre sets for the South Baldwin Community theatre, being part of trivia and Bunco groups, going to dinner with friends, watching college football, cooking, and tagging along with his wife in Mardi Gras Krewe activities. He loved to travel, and there were only a few places from his list that he hadn't visited. Bruce is survived by his wife, Rose Mary; his son Kevin Asman, and daughter, Traci (Bill)Sipperly; grandchildren: Sydney Asman, Iain Asman, Victoria Sipperly, Nicholas Sipperly, Alexander Sipperly and Elizabeth Sipperly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Asman, his father, Clarence Asman and his bother, Richard Asman. Bruce will be honored at a military ceremony at Barrancas National Cemetery at Pensacola NAS with a celebration of life to be followed. The date of both will be announced later. To honor Bruce’s memory, donations, in lieu of flowers, may be given to the American Legion Posts 99 in Foley, AL or 44 in Gulf Shores, AL.
