December 17, 1933 — September 4, 2024

Spanish Fort

Blanche Chapman Sumrall, a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Wednesday the fourth of September 2024 at 90 years of age, surrounded by family.

B Sumrall began her art career as a watercolorist at age 45. Well-loved by many, she was always eager to share her knowledge of painting. Patriotic and true to herself, with a commitment to human value, Blanche painted traditionally, subjects that she loved, with intrinsic details and the jewel-tone colors of the Old Masters. She loved nature and painted flowers that radiate, undulating waves and historic places that travel you back in time. Her painting of magnolias was magnificent and her trademark. She left her mark on the art world with her brilliant artistic talents. She loved all animals, especially her dogs and cats through the years, instilling a love of German Shepherds to her children. She was vivacious, fun, adventurous, determined, talented, strong, loving, and the ultimate free spirit. Indeed, to know her was to love her and we are blessed to have known her. She loved her family so much and we ALL loved her beyond measure.

Preceded in death by her parents, Algie and Hazel Chapman; husband, Charles H. Sumrall; and a brother, Billy Chapman.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Jones (Charlie) Baker, granddaughter, Charebi Baker (Ronnie) Jones; grandson, Yancey F. (Kim) Baker; son, David (Beverley) Sumrall, granddaughter Alisha Sumrall (EJ) Lozano; great grandchildren, Lofton Jones, Olivia Baker, Devin Dunnam and Lexi Bagley, and many other relatives and friends. We would like to thank Community Hospice and all the care they gave her to make her comfortable and peaceful.

A Graveside service will be held Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 10:00am, at Bay Minette City Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at Blessed Francis Xavier Catholic Church parish hall in Spanish Fort after the grave side service for light refreshments and coffee provided by the Ladies Prayer Group. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Community Hospice and/or North Baldwin Animal Shelter
