Billy "Bill" Earl Pipkin

d. November 8, 2022

Billy Earl “Bill” Pipkin died peacefully on November 8th with family by his side. Bill was born on May 20th 1938, in Goodway, Alabama to Earl Herman Pipkin and Annie Mae Brake Pipkin. The oldest of the surviving siblings, he walked many miles of cotton rows to help his parents and family in rural Monroe County. He continued through school until sneaking off to join the Army at 16. When his true age was discovered, he was transferred to the Army Reserve at age 17 in 1955, where he was employed full-time on active status until April 1963. He then enlisted with the US Air Force Reserve, also full-time active status until 1970, receiving his Honorable Discharge in June of 1975. After his discharge, he began his second career in Insurance where he continued to work well into his 70s. He met the love of his life, Sandra in their teenage years and they were married on December 7, 1957. Never far from each other’s sides, they were happily married nearly 65 years and have 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. As a faithful follower of Christ, Bill was an example and inspiration to those who knew him. He prayed daily for those around him and his holiday prayers at meal time will be missed by all. Loved by many, cherished by all, slow to anger, and quick to forgive, he was a mentor to his family and friends. Bill loved the outdoors. One of his favorite pastimes was spring bream fishing. Those who knew him might say he would have picked a “bream buster” on a clear May morning over winning the lottery most days. He was blessed with his mom’s green thumb and grew vegetables and fruit year round. He put up pecans, peas, beans, okra and corn, but fresh tomatoes and bell peppers were a favorite. Besides tending to his garden, he also loved spending time with family, working in his yard, and enjoying the many creations God graciously provided in his life. Bill was predeceased by his parents and his brother, James Pipkin of Fairhope, AL; and his sister Shelba Graham of Bay Minette, AL. He is survived by his son Todd Pipkin of Monroe County; his daughter and son-in-law Malynda “Kiki” and Sam Sealy of Fairhope; his son Tracy Pipkin of Fairhope; his son and daughter-in-law Andy and Valerie Pipkin of Fairhope; his sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Ronnie Mitchell of Saraland, AL; his brother and sister-in-law Neil and Dotty Pipkin of Satsuma, AL; his brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Faith Pipkin of Menlo, GA; his brother and sister-in-law Robert and Charlene Pipkin of Creola, AL; and his sister and brother-in-law Janell and James Tate of Satsuma, AL; as well as his grandchildren Rachel Robinson and Adam Pipkin, Staci Mouchett and Ben Sealy, Brian Pipkin, and Clayton and Aidan Pipkin plus great-grandchildren and other beloved family.
