Betty Sue “Bebe” Jordan - a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend - passed away peacefully in Fairhope, Alabama, on January 28, 2025. Born on February 20,1938, in Mobile, she spent her childhood there as well as in Tampa, Florida. She attended Auburn University where she met her husband of over fifty years, Jerry Jordan. Together, they raised their family in Vestavia Hills. After living at her beloved lake house on Lay Lake in Sylacauga, Betty Sue moved to Camden, Alabama.
Known for her beautiful smile, warm and gracious hospitality, and vibrant spirit, Betty Sue loved gathering family and friends at her home and lake house. She was an enthusiastic tennis and golf player, helping to establish the Women’s Tennis League at Wald Park. She also served multiple terms as president of the Garlandia Garden Club in Vestavia Hills and enjoyed participating in the Fleur de Lis Garden Club in Camden. Betty Sue’s faith was the cornerstone of her life; she believed in grace, acceptance, and love and extended that kindness to everyone she met.
Betty Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome (Jerry) Jordan; her parents, Dewey and Ruby Sellers; and her sister, Mary Ann Williams. She is survived by her children, Suzanne Deriso (Phil) of Fairhope, AL, and David Jordan (Amanda) of Camden, AL; her grandchildren, Daniel Deriso (Allie), Hannah Jordan, Mandy Jordan, Nancy Jordan, and Turner Jordan; as well as niece Celia Jordan Denney (Gordon), nephews Forrest Jordan (Sandra) and Skip Williams (Suzanne), extended family, and countless friends who loved her dearly.
A celebration of Betty Sue’s life will be held Tuesday, February 4th at 11 A.M. at Camden Methodist Church, located at 127 Broad Street, Camden, AL. Her family extends its deepest gratitude to her caregivers at home including Vergen Hattaway, Angela Williams, Mashika (Nikki) Ransom, Shannon Jones, and Tanya McWilliams for their care and love. In addition, the family thanks the medical staff at Thomas Hospital, St. Joseph Hospice in Fairhope, and everyone at John Paul Jones Hospital in Camden for their compassionate support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty Sue's name to Wilcox Academy, P.O. Box 1149, Camden, AL 36726.
