Betty Gayle Roberts Browning

April 3, 1946 – March 31, 2024

            Betty Gayle was born in Blount County Alabama. The family moved to Mobile in 1954 shortly after the death of her father. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1964 and started work at the Alabama State Docks as secretary to the harbor master where she was employed until her retirement. While working at the State Docks, she met and married E.G. “Buddy” Browning in 1984. He was the love of her life. They traveled extensively around the world throughout their marriage and renewed their wedding vows for the 25^th anniversary on the island of St. Martin.

            Betty Gayle was the life of any party and made it seem as if there was a party even if there wasn’t one. She lit up a room with her laughter, wit, and infectious smile.

            She is preceded in death by her husband, E.G. “Buddy” Browning, Jr.; her sisters, Billie Burke (J.M.) Lee and Roberta (Elbert) Miller; and nephew, Tommy Lee.

            She is survived by her brother, Ronnie (Pat) Roberts of Foley; step sons, Ellis Gaines Browning III of Daphne and Tommy Browning of Orange Beach; nephews, Mike (Sandy) Miller of Birmingham, Vernon (Jenny) Miller of Montgomery, Bill (Pam) Roberts of Foley, and David Roberts of Mobile; niece, Becky Lee (Mark) Smith of Greenville, AL; and great-nephew, Rick (Katie) Bourne and their daughters, Maggie Lee Bourne and Phyllis Ann Bourne of Greenville, who she adored as if they were her own. Betty Gayle loved and was loved by many other family and friends.

            A visitation will be held at the Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley, Alabama, on Friday, April 5^th, 2024, from 1:00-2:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Pine Rest Cemetery in Foley, Alabama.
