Barry Edward Barter

Barter Spanish Fort, AL Barry Edward Barter, age 63, passed away Monday, May 1, 2023 at his home. Barry grew up in Fairhope, Alabama and was a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama. Barry was a graduate of the University of Alabama where he majored in finance. Barry had a long career in banking and waste management and played a major part in the privatization of household garbage and recycling for Mobile and Baldwin Counties. Barry was of the Baptist faith, he participated in the Big Brother program, and volunteered at various food banks in the area. Barry loved fast sports cars, especially Corvettes, and he was a dedicated fan of the Crimson Tide. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Joseph Barter and Vera Ashworth Barter, and sister, Beverly Elizabeth Barter. He is survived by his Barter and Ashworth cousins and many good friends. Special thanks to Carrie Potter, his faithful caregiver and the staff of Cornerstone, Visiting Angels, and Alabama Hospice. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 11 from 10 to 11 AM at Wolfe-Bayview funeral home, followed by a graveside service at 11 AM at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.
