Barbara Ann Long

Barbara Ann Long of Fairhope, AL passed away on the morning of February 8, 2023, at the age of 73, surrounded in love by her family. Barbara was born on September 16, 1949, to Bryant and Ethel Bishop in Fairhope, AL. As the youngest of six children, she learned at a young age to be strong and feisty. She married Dennis Long Sr. on December 31, 1969, surrounded by their family and friends in Fairhope, AL. They were lifelong companions and joyfully welcomed two children, Tammy and Dennis Wayne Jr, to their family. She proudly spent her days raising her children and helping to raise her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. If you ask anyone about Barbara, they will tell you she loved her family, even more than she loved her coffee! She rarely missed her children’s sporting events and attended her grandchildren’s events as often as she could. She enjoyed vacations and dinners with her family and every opportunity to watch them play or listen to them giggle. She was instrumental in raising her grandchildren and loved every minute of it. There is no doubt that her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and nothing brought her more happiness than being MeMe. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryant and Ethel Bishop; brothers, Archie Bishop, Jimmy Bishop, George Bishop, Ellis Bishop, and Ronnie Bishop; and sister Shirley Brown. Barbara is survived by her husband, Dennis Long Sr of 53 years; daughter Tammy Long (Jeremy Clemmer); Son Dennis (Alison) Long Jr; grandsons Blake Singleton, Skyler Singleton, Tucker Long, Logan Long; expectant granddaughter, Harper Anne Long; as well as her beloved nephews, nieces, and other family members. A service will be held in her memory on Monday, February 13, 2023, at 10:30am at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope. Visitation will begin at 9:30am.
