Barbara Elizabeth Hofkamp

Barbara Elizabeth Hofkamp, a resident of Alabama, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at the age of 80.  She was born in Chicago May 17, 1943.  

Barbara lived most of her life in suburbs of Chicago.  When she retired, she moved to Fairhope, AL to be close to her daughter Kathy and some friends.  Barbara loved music, especially Elvis Presley.  When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed life to the fullest.  She loved being outdoors, especially the beach and doing gardening.  She loved her kitties Elvis, Baby, Elliott and Sammie.  Barbara was a very strong, independent woman and she raised her daughters to be the same.  She worked for several years at Savoia's Restaurant where she had several close friends.  When she turned 40, she changed careers and went to college and obtained a degree in accounting.  

Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Marie Julius; her sisters Mary E. Smith and Claire Anne Julius.  

She is survived by her daughters, Julie Brown of New Berlin, WI and Kathleen Phillips of Pensacola, FL; sister Karen (Rory) Banovich and brother William Julius Jr.  and many other loving relatives and friends.  She has 3 grandkids and 5 great grand kids.  

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 2:00pm in the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, AL. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm.
