Dr. Arthur Dumont III passed away September 20, 2018 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia after complications from a lengthy illness. Dr. Dumont was born in Mobile, Alabama on December 30, 1950 to Arthur Dumont Jr. and Mary Ruth Dumont. He is a graduate of Pascagoula High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He entered medical school at the University of Mississippi in Jackson and graduated in 1976. Completing his internship and residency in psychiatry at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, California, he retired from the Navy in 1984 as a Lieutenant Commander. Arthur returned to Mobile in 1984 to set up a thriving private practice. He later moved to Orange Beach where he enjoyed his time fishing, spending time with his wife and boys, and recently reestablishing his practice. Arthur had a passion for life, his family, his work and his patients. He is preceded in death by his parents and his oldest daughter, Melissa Kay Dumont. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty two years Mary Kate Shepard Dumont, daughter Elizabeth Howard Dumont, sons Arthur Dumont IV and Charles Martin Shepard Dumont, grandchildren Noah and Sadie. He leaves behind two loving sisters, Cheryl Ruth Dumont and Jean Dumont Savell (John) as well as nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his first wife, devoted friend, and mother of his daughters, Sue Howard Dumont. Visitation for Dr. Dumont will be held at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Foley, Alabama on Thursday, September 27th from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside services will be in Biloxi, Mississippi at Biloxi National Cemetery on Friday, September 28th at 2:30 p.m. with a reception following at the Shepard home in Gautier, Mississippi. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Disabled American Veterans.
