Anthony John Cannizzo Sr.

Anthony John Cannizzo Sr., a resident of Gulf Shores, AL, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the age of 84. 

Anthony was a longtime resident of Gloversville, NY, Saco, ME, and Bluffton, SC. He graduated from Gloversville High School, where he played football, and met his wife of 63 years, Marie. He attended Delhi University in New York.

Anthony was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. He worked as the VP of Operations at George Newman and Company for 30 years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, going to the beach, playing pickleball, horse racing at Saratoga, and was a loyal New York Yankees and Chicago Bears fan.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Russo Cannizzo of Gulf Shores, AL; two sons, Anthony John (Tracey) Cannizzo Jr. of Fairhope, AL, and Jon (Cindi) Cannizzo of Warrenton, VA; sister, Barbara (Tom) Carrington of Gaithersburg, MD; and grandchildren, Antonio Cannizzo of Phoenix, AZ, Elizabeth Cannizzo of Ellicott City, MD, Carmella Cannizzo of Fairhope, AL, and Mary Alice Cannizzo of Fairhope, AL. He is also survived by many family members and friends.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Philip Cannizzo and Mary Kolodziej Cannizzo.

A Mass will be held Friday, July 12, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, 308 East 22nd Avenue, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
