It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alton Brett Simmons, 59, of Spanish Fort, Alabama. He passed away on March 31, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer and a number of other health challenges. Brett was born in Mobile, Alabama, on January 28, 1966, to the late Alton Lloyd Simmons and Emily Pauline Simmons (McGinnis).
Brett was a 1984 graduate of Fairhope High School, where he was known for his excellence on the football field. He continued his education at the University of South Alabama, earning a degree in Marketing in 1988. He worked in Sales for Diamond Crystals Inc., where he was a valued team member for many years. In later years, Brett dedicated his time to managing his health with the same strength and resilience that defined his life.
Brett is survived by his children, Lawson Brett Simmons and Brandon Troy Simmons; his nephews, Chad Graddick and Andrew Dismukes; and many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved sister, Sonia Lynn Dismukes, who passed shortly after him.
A passionate outdoorsman, Brett loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. His love for Alabama football was unwavering, and he cherished the camaraderie of his lifelong friends. Above all, Brett was deeply devoted to his children, and his pride in them was evident to everyone who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10:00 am from the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne, AL. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until the service time. Inurnment will follow the memorial service at Jubilee Memorial Gardens.
Brett's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His spirit, love for life, and dedication to his family will never be forgotten.
