Alma Jane Grove Brown

Alma Jane Grove Brown (nee Wilkins) was born in 1926 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.  She was the youngest child of G.C. and Ora Alma Roddy Wilkins. She is survived by three children, John M. Grove, Sharon, MA, Sara Jane Price (Jim), Pensacola, FL, Cheryl Ann Mooney (Tim), Daphne, AL four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, plus nieces and nephews.

Jane was preceded in death by her first husband, John V. Grove and her second husband James M. Brown, daughter Jeffrie June Grove and grandchild Laney Stephens, her sisters, Erma Roddy, Mary Ryan, Jo Kocourek, and June Poston.

Jane spent her childhood in Chickasha, OK, Rome, GA, Hutchinson, KS, Clinton, OK, and Wichita, KS.  She was a 1944 graduate of Wichita High School East. She was a homemaker during her child rearing years in Wichita and Derby, KS. and a member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Derby, KS. Jane and Jim Brown spent their retirement years in Wichita, Hartington, NE, Sioux Falls, SD, Rogers, AR, golfing, traveling, reading, crossword puzzles and grandparenting and great grandparenting a growing widespread family.  She spent her widowed years in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Tim Mooney, in Daphne, Alabama where she made many new friends.

Jane was known to her friends as a friendly outgoing “sweet” person who brightened a room with her presence.  Her family knew her as a skilled seamstress, who also crocheted and did cross stitch and an excellent cook.  Her chocolate fudge cake, peach cake, and raisin pies will be missed. She celebrated her 95^th birthday just three days before passing having lived a full life and seeing her great, great grandchildren.
