Allan MacPherson, a native of Lawrence, Massachusetts and long-time resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on July 8, 2021 at the age of 95. After serving in the Army Air Corps in WWII, he went on to get his degree in civil engineering. After a long career with Volkert & Associates, he retired to Fairhope with his wife Jean. He enjoyed playing golf and was a long standing member at Quail Creek Golf Course. He worked on many projects in and around the course. He worked on the renovation and installation of a computer center in Fairhope’s K-1 School and was instrumental in the design and building of the city’s playground across the street. Allan and Jean shared a lifelong love for animals. Allan never left home without a dog treat in his pocket. He advocated for “adopt, don’t shop”. He leaves behind his beloved 4-legged companion and friend, Dorie, age 17. Allan was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jean MacPherson. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Lynn; son, Douglas Ian; along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family will be making plans to host a Celebration of Life as soon as weather conditions improve and COVID concerns subside enough to let everyone safely attend the celebration.
