Alice Adelle Wildes Villadsen

d. January 28, 2025

Gulf Shores

Alice Adelle Wildes Villadsen slipped gently into that good night on January 28, 2025.

Born in 1943, Alice was raised in Hueytown, AL. She graduated from The University of Alabama, where she was a Phi Mu and a Bama cheerleader. At the capstone, she met her husband, Wayne. Alice earned her PhD in Educational Administration in 1980 from Alabama, further cementing her staunch support of the Crimson Tide. She spent her career in higher education, serving as president of Brookhaven College and mentoring community college leaders across the country.

Alice enjoyed singing in church choirs, leading Bible studies, reading with her book club, and traveling. She avidly supported Alabama football, basketball, and softball – but enjoyed all Crimson Tide sports.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, her son, Michael, and her parents, Paul and Susie Dell Wildes; brother Paul Ray Wildes and sister Mary Sue Wildes Crain. She is survived by her daughter, Jacque Helms; son-in-law, Dennis Helms; and grandchildren, Bradley, Mark (wife Ashley), and Alice Helms.

A memorial service will be held at St. Andrews by the Sea in Gulf Shores, AL on March 8, 2025 at 12:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Andrews by the Sea in Gulf Shores, AL.
