Alice Philipp Laubenthal, age 81, born October 17, 1936 in Frisco City, and a longtime resident of Spanish Fort, passed away March 8, 2018 surrounded by her devoted husband and children. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1956. After high school, Alice attended business school and began her career as a secretary at ADDSCO, where she met the love of her life, Marion Milton Laubenthal, whom she married in 1974 at St. Matthews Catholic Church. Alice placed her career on hold to become a stay at home mother and to raise her three children. Once her kids were in high school, she returned to work as a secretary in the ESL department at the University of South Alabama, where she enjoyed meeting and working with foreign students who would affectionately refer to her as Ms. Alice before retiring in 2007. Of all her titles, the one she adored most was that of Gigi. She found such joy spending time with her seven grandchildren, Megan Schaffer, Madison Laubenthal, Caden Schaffer, Chloe Laubenthal, Kaiser Laubenthal, Hannah Walley and Hailey Walley. When she was not spending time with her children and grandchildren, she enjoyed staying connected with family and friends on Facebook, where she loved to comment on everyone’s pictures and playing Bingo with her very best and dedicated friend, Judy Laubenthal. She is survived in death by her husband, Marion Milton Laubenthal, her three children, LeAna (Brian) Schaffer, Walter (Samantha) Laubenthal, Jennifer (Mike) Walley and dedicated nephew, Chuck (Lori) Philipp and many nephews, nieces and friends. Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Ruby Philipp, sister, Bobby Jean Sandoval, granddaughter, Molly Schaffer, as well as her beloved Aunt Viola Lofton. A special thank you to her doctors, Adrian DiVittorio and Christopher Gammard for all their care throughout her illness. Visitation will be held, Monday, March 12, 2018 from 10:00-12:00 PM at Christ the King Catholic Church in Daphne. A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12:00 PM from the church.
