FAIRHOPE, ALAlfred Konrad Seibt, born June 28, 1933, died following a short illness on April 20, 2017.He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Burden Seibt; parents, Felix Alfred Seibt and Emily Cooke Seibt; sister, Elise Seibt Herrin; brother, Garet Van Antwerp Seibt; and step-mother, Lois Martin Seibt. He is survived by four children: Carolyn Ann (Lyn) Seibt Fogarty (Chris), Alfred Bryan Seibt (Kathy), Laura Elise Seibt Pace (Jay), and John Marshall Seibt (Tiffany); 12 grandchildren: Anna Fogarty, Sarah Fogarty, Katherine Seibt, Caroline Seibt Heeren, Elise Pace, John Pace, Emily Pace, Jack Seibt, Tom Seibt, Ashleigh Seibt, David Whitson, Wesley Whitson; step-sister, Libby Burgett Hutson (Ken) of Swan Valley, Idaho; brother-in-law, Frank Herrin of Mascot, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.Seibt joined the First National Bank of Mobile in 1950 at age 16 and worked there 34 years, starting as a runner and working in numerous internal departments before being promoted to branch banking where he served as manager of several branches across Mobile County. He began working in the commercial lending department in 1968, where he was promoted to senior vice president in 1978 and named manager of the department. In 1984 he accepted a similar position at Altus Bank (First Southern Federal) where he worked for six years. In 1990 he joined SouthTrust Bank and retired in 1994 after 44 years serving the banking needs of the Mobile community.His community service was exemplary during these years as he served and led numerous civic organizations. He has served the Muscular Dystrophy Association as Mobile Campaign Treasurer; the Children’s Dental Clinic as Treasurer; Junior Chamber of C ommerce of Mobile (Jaycees); vice president of the Mobile Azalea Trail, Inc.; original incorporator of the Junior Miss America Pageant, Inc. (now Distinguished Young Women); treasurer of the Loop Lions Club; advisory board member, Dearborn Street YMCA;  treasurer of the Prichard Kiwanis Club; member of the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Mobile, Inc.; participant in Mobile’s Community Leadership Program; president of the Community Chest and Council of Mobile, Inc. (United Fund/United Way); and in the 1980s he served the Mobile Chapter of the American Red Cross as vice chairman and chairman, being honored as a recipient of the Ralph G. Holberg, Jr. Service Award in 1989. In recognition of his lengthy service to the American Red Cross, Seibt was awarded the “M.O. Beale Scroll of Merit” by the Mobile Press Register.As involved as Seibt was in banking and community service in Mobile, his greatest joy, after his love for his wife, Ann, and family, was playing in a fast-pitch softball league representing First National Bank throughout his career. He had a passion for designing and building wooden boats, many of which are still seen and enjoyed around Mobile Bay, and constructing balsa wood, gas-powered model airplanes. A brilliant WWII scholar, he knew all participants, ships, aircraft, and outcome of each conflict of the war.
