Johnny Young

YOUNG FAIRHOPE Ret. Msg. Johnny Young, age 67, a native and longtime resident of Daphne, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010. Mr. Young served 27 years and 27 days of distinctive service in the U. S. Army.  During his service, he was a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.  He served in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from military service, Mr. Young worked 16 years as a letter carrier for the U. S. Postal Service. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Willie J. and Sarah Young, Sr. He was survived by his wife of 44 years, Freddie H. Young of Daphne, AL, sons, Rodney (Victoria) Young of Murfreesboro, TN, Michael Young, daughters, Denise Shaw, Jacqueline Young, all of Smyrna, TN, brothers, Willie J. Young, Jr. of Loxley, AL, Anthony (Irmastine) Young, Sr., of Loxley, AL, sisters, Mary (Robert) Ingram of Sparta, GA, Christine (David) Weathers of Milton, FL, Helen (Jamie) Autry of Fairhope, AL, seven grandchildren, seven loving sisters-in-law, seven loving brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Shrine of the Holy Cross, Saturday, August 14, 2010, 11:00am. Rosary will be held at 9:30am.  The family will receive friends from 10:00am until the time of mass. Interment will follow in Belforest Catholic Cemetery.
