DAPHNE, AL Isabel “Sister” DuBose Giddings, born May 2, 1923, a native of Morton, MS and a resident of Daphne, AL passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Isabel was a folk philosopher and humorist in the tradition of Twain and Bombeck, and a poet in the tradition of Dickinson and The Fireside Poets. She inspired and delighted friends and family with her wit and wisdom, and leaves a legacy of the same in her many journals and diaries. Through her compassion and humor, she always made everyone she met feel special about themselves. She lived her faith in Christ by demonstrating daily what it means to “love thy neighbor as thyself” (Mathew 22:39b). Isabel was also a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a former member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Jackson, MS, and First Baptist Church of Fairhope, AL. In addition, after raising her family, Isabel received her Associate Degree in Business from Okaloosa Walton Junior College and her Florida Real Estate License. Mrs. Giddings was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney L. Giddings, Jr., and son, James Ronald Giddings. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Giddings Beall and her husband Dwayne of Daphne, AL, sons, Sidney Lenard Giddings III of Fort Walton Beach, FL, Russell Haden Giddings of Memphis, TN, Byron Alan Giddings and his wife Becky of Navarre, FL, six grandsons, Sidney Giddings IV of Las Vegas, NV, Haden Giddings and his wife Lana of Locust Grove, GA, Chad Giddings and his wife Amber of Fairhope, AL, Sammy Beall and his wife Jaclyn of Fairhope, AL, Brian Giddings and his wife Sarah of Brandon, FL, Jeffrey Beall and his wife Anna of Marion, AL, eight great grandchildren, many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope Chapel, Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00am until service time. Graveside services and interment will be held in Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL, Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at 11:45am.
