SPANISH FORT William Martin Folks, age 86, a native of Glasgow, KY, a former resident of Mobile, and a current resident of Spanish Fort, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010. Bill served as a Lt. in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. He was a grand master bridge player since 1968. An avid baker that loved spending time at the beach and with his grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by his wives, Pearlie Goldman Folks and Anne Latimer Folks. He is survived by his son, Charles "Chunky" Folks and his wife Ellen Kanter Folks of Baton Rouge, LA, daughter, Jane Folks Tarlow and her husband Leonard Barasch of St. Louis, MO, grandchildren, Heather Folks, Shawn Folks and his wife Jamie, Lauren Folks, all of Baton Rouge, LA, Sarah Barasch of St. Louis, MO, cousins, Reita Paplanus Franco, Sam Paplanus, nieces, Susan Saks, Sara Morrison and Doris Baker. Memorial services will be held from the Springhill Avenue Temple in Mobile, on Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until time of service.
