FOLEY, AL Marion DeVlieg Kingston (nee MacLachlan) born September 4, 1920, passed away Saturday afternoon April 17, 2010 after a rich and full life. She was born in Minnesota, lived in New York, Pennsylvania, and California before moving to Oregon as a young adult. She began a lifetime of service to American Red Cross first as a volunteer during WWII, later as a disaster relief social worker for hurricanes including Camille and Agnes and the evacuation of Vietnamese people to Guam. In 1948 she married George W Kingston, then a lieutenant in the U S Navy, and together they shared many adventures in Istanbul, London, Charleston and Washington DC. They retired to Baldwin County Alabama in the 1970's where they were both active in many organizations. Marion was a longtime member of the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center Board, the Foley Performing Arts Center Board and was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church. She was pre-deceased by her husband Commander George W Kingston, USN, Rtd. and is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Jim Armpriest (Salem, Oregon); nieces Diane Armpriest (Moscow, Idaho) and Lynne Reinoso (Salem, Oregon); nephew David Armpriest (Rosedale, Califronia); and stepson Frank Kingston of Pensacola. Her family also wishes to thank and remember her good friends from Baldwin County who shared their lives with her, and all of those who helped care for her during the last years of her life. Donations can be made to Baldwin Animal Rescue Center. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
