MT. AIRY Lola Rogers Lawson, age 59, of Mt. Airy, GA, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010, at her residence. Born in Baldwin County, Alabama on February 14, 1951, she was the daughter of Lillian Cardwell of Antioch, IL. Mrs. Lawson's love for caregiving led her to many years of dedicated service as a registered nurse at Stephens County Hospital in Toccoa, GA. She was of the Baptist faith, and was also very family oriented. Her hobbies included art work, sewing and fishing. She was preceded in death by Hurtis and Sarah Pagget Rogers, who adopted her. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Sydney "Syd" Lawson of Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Dan Hurst of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald David and Rebecca Lawson of Gainesville; grandson, Nathan Lawson; brothers, Jeff Cardwell of Houston, TX, Timothy Cardwell of Temecula, CA, and Terry Cardwell of Arlington Heights, IL. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 13, 2010, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, AL. Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at Elberta Public Cemetery, Elberta, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts in Lola's name may be made to Stephens County Hospital, 163 Hospital Drive, Toccoa, GA 30577-9912.
