Nena Koors Buchanan

d. March 30, 2010

SPANISH FORT Nena Koors Buchanan, born January 30, 1950 passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in Foley. She grew up in Mobile living on St. Monica Dr. across the street from St. Monica’s Church and school which she attended.  She enjoyed an idyllic childhood and had many friends who stayed in touch throughout her life.  She attended Toolen High School and subsequently graduated from cosmetology school.  She married and had two children, Johnny and Jennifer.  She was a longtime employee of Degussa Chemical and had many cherished friends. The last three years of her life, Nena provided around the clock care to her ailing parents.  She did this at the expense of her own health.  Everyone agrees that this typified her essence: to reject her own materialistic interests while giving to others.  She had a big heart and a magnanimous spirit. Nena loved to cook and was a big fan of cooking shows on TV.  She enjoyed the movies, the Beatles, and Alabama Football.  She was a real expert at decorating for the holidays.  The real joy of her life was her children and grandchildren to whom she was known as “Nene”. They always looked forward to being with her.  Nena leaves them and the rest of her family a legacy of love. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Alan) Bailey of Loxley, Son, John B. (Michelle) Buchanan of Mobile, Father, Gerald D. Koors of Spanish Fort, 2 Sisters, Gail Wilson of Daphne, Dee Dee Boyington of Orange Beach, 3 Brothers, John (Lisa) Koors of Anniston, Gerald D. (Lynn) Koors, Jr, and Mark Koors, both of Spanish Fort, 5 Grandchildren, Megan and Hunter Buchanan, both of Mobile,  Kyndal, Jaxson and Camille Bailey, all of Loxley. The family will receive friends Friday, April 2, 2010 from 10:30 am – 11 am at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne.  A memorial service will begin at 11 am from the funeral home chapel.  A private interment will be held at a later date. Family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff of South Baldwin Regional Medical Center and especially Dr. John McAtee for the compassionate care for Nena.
