Warren H. Rush

RUSH Rev. Warren H. Rush, age 88, peacefully departed this life Monday, March 14, 2010. Warren was born April 29, 1921 to the late Alma Farmer and Howard Culver Rush, Sr. Sergeant Rush served as a tank driver and machine gunner in Company D, 81st Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Armored Division of the U. S. Army. He participated in Operation Torch, the British - American invasion of French North Africa in World War II which started November 8, 1942. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze service star for the Tunisian Campaign, and the Good Conduct Medal. He earned a BS from the University of Alabama in Accounting and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Seminary, Ft Worth, TX. He served as pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Laurel, MS; Parkway Baptist Church, Tallahassee, FL; a short-term church planter in Montana and Indiana, and 7 years as a missionary with the International Mission Board, SBC in the countries of Senegal, Japan and Spain. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Joanah Hull Rush, seven brothers and one sister. He is survived by three children: JoAnn (Lester) McCullough, Jacksonville , FL , Dale (Cherry) Rush, Thomaston , GA , and Deborah (Freddy) Davis , Tallahassee , FL ; five grandchildren: Melody Revell, David Rush, John Rush, Philip Rush, and Ken Davis, and one great grandson, Logan Revell. The funeral service will be held at Wolfe-BayView funeral home in Fairhope , AL on Saturday, March 20, at 12:00 pm (CST). It will be preceded by a viewing beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Montrose Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be sent to FBC Fairhope for IMB Missions.
