Ethel Leitermann

d. March 10, 2010

ELBERTA Ethel went to be with our Lord on March 10, 2010, at the age of 94. Ethel was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on September 9, 1915. She was the middle child of five children born to Etta Fay and Frank Smithson. She met Elberta native Nicholas Leitermann at a St. Patrick's Day picnic in Cincinnati. Three months later they were married and lived in Cincinnati for the next nine years. In 1943 they moved to Nicholas's home town of Elberta, AL, where she remained for the rest of her life. There she worked along side her husband on the farm and raised their three children. Though leaving the city for a rural area was a difficult transition she learned to love it and said it was the best place to raise a family. When not working in the fields and home, she found time to do many arts and crafts and also was known to sing at the Elberta Farmers Hall for special occassions. Ethel is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Nicholas George Leitermann. She is survived by one son, Nelson (Lorie) Leitermann of Elberta; two daughters, Eva (Paul) Henson of Festus, Missouri, and Sharon Gardner of Elberta; 7 grandchildren, Todd Leitermann, Tammy Wright, Troy Leitermann, all of Elberta, Greg and Michael Henson of St. Louis, Missouri, Clarisa Pedraza Parker of Cantonment, FL, and Darryl Pedraza of Elberta; 15 great-grandchildren; and one beloved nephew, Stanley (Aka) Dick Ritchie of Burnside, Kentucky. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Foley, AL. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Elberta Public Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Baldwin County Animal Shelter, or St. Benedict's School in Elberta. ARRANGEMENTS BY WOLFE-BAYVIEW FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, INC. 2551 SO. MCKENZIE STREET FOLEY, ALABAMA 36535
