SPANISH FORT Pauline Frances Brown Lombard passed away peacefully February 20, 2010 at her home in Daphne AL. surrounded by family and her beloved pets. Pauline was born in Concord MA. February 16, 1927, and for the past 24 years was a resident of Fairhope AL. and later Daphne AL. She is survived by her cherished pets Ellie Mae, Seamus, Meezer, Lady Diana, Tootles, Kelly and L’Orange. She is also survived by her husband of 62 years, Francis, her daughter Linda (Harold) Chadourne of Fairhope, AL. and son Robert (Suzann) Lombard of Seattle, WA., grandchildren Michelle (Kade Lyons) Lombard of Sherwood OR., James (Christina) Cohenour of Fairhope, AL., Sara Chadourne of Auburn, AL., Chad Chadourne of Fairhope AL., five great-grandchildren and numerous devoted nieces and nephews, especially Carol Torrice of Woburn, MA. Paula’s lifelong love of animals grew into her passion after she moved her young family to Clearwater, Florida. She worked for years as a Veterinarian’s assistant and in her spare time was known as the animal “rescue lady” for taking in injured and lost animals, including gulls, snakes, or any other critter in need. She was a long time contributor to the Humane Society, Greenpeace, Defenders of Wildlife, and the SPCA, and she abhorred the mistreatment of any animal, and Heaven help you if she caught you doing it! Despite her basic Yankee practicality, she could not resist an animal in need even though she had a house full of them. She passed on her love of animals to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The world was a better place with her in it. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Haven, Baldwin Animal Rescue Center, and Odyssey Hospice would be greatly appreciated. A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Lake Forest Yacht Club in Daphne.
