CORTE Ferdinand Forrest Corte, Sr., a native of Baldwin County and resident of Loxley, AL for the past 72 years, died Friday, February 19, 2010, after a long illness. Mr. Corte was the son of the late Ferdinand Angelo Corte and Lizzie Mae Blackmon Corte. Mr. Corte had a life long farming career with F.F. Corte Farms. He thoroughly enjoyed his family, fishing, boating, and sharing the occasional joke. After completing his general studies at McGill Institute, he attended Auburn University where he studied agriculture and then returned home to work in the family business. Forrest Sr. was named Father of the year in 1999 by the Alabama Cattleman’s Women’s Association. Mr. Corte generously donated several properties to the town of Loxley enabling the town to grow and expand with a location for it’s brand new fire station. He never turned away a person in need. He is survived by his wife and long time sweetheart of 48 years, Dolores Dixon Corte, who graciously cared for him during his illness. His two children: Gretchen Dixon Corte of Daphne, AL, and Ferdinand Forrest Corte, Jr. (wife Pamela Long Corte) of Loxley, AL. He had three grandchildren who thought the world of him, Katherine Elizabeth Lea of Daphne, AL, Trevor Forrest Corte and Bryce McKenzie Corte of Loxley, AL. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale, AL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, February 22, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale, with Monseigneur William James officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until service time. Interment will be at the Belforest Catholic Cemetery in Daphne, AL. In lieu of Flowers the family requests that memorials be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic School, P.O. Box 1367, Robertsdale, AL 36567, or Thomas Hospital, 188 Hospital Drive, Fairhope, AL 36532.
