FORREST Dr. William Dewey Forrest of Fairhope, Alabama, died February 16, 2010 at USA Medical Center with his wife, beloved sons and a great-nephew at his side. He was born in Spring Creek, Louisiana on January 23, 1938. Better known as Bill or Padeau (a name given to him by his grandson, Jackson) was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Bill graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Masters of Science Degree in Plant Pathology from Louisiana State University and Doctorate of Philosophy in Botany from Mississippi State University. After teaching for fourteen years most recently at Memphis State University, Memphis, TN, he joined SmithKline Pharmaceuticals in sales and then went on to be a National Sales Trainer in Philadelphia, PA. Bill chose to return to the sales field to be closer to family in 1978 and retired in 1998 in the Athens, GA area. Bill won many awards during his teaching, training, and sales career and published numerous papers in scientific journals and co-authored a laboratory manual that was used in teaching college level biology for many years. Dr. Forrest is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy H. (Dee) Forrest of Fairhope, AL, Two sons, William Dewey Forrest, II, of Atlanta, GA, James David Forrest and wife Ann Martin Forrest, Grandson, Jackson Martin Forrest, granddaughter, Eleanor Adelle Forrest, all of Pawleys Island, S.C., and his beloved family pet, Buggs; Two brothers, Harold Forrest of Kentwood, LA, Milford R. Forrest of Westpoint, MS, Aunt, Mrs Velo Swearingen of Kentwood, LA and many very special nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and friends. He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Donis Harris of Tupelo, MS, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herman E. Forrest of Kentwood, LA. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at St. James Episcopal Church, Fairhope, AL. The family requests memorials be made to St. James Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, 860 North Section Street, Fairhope, AL 36532.
