SPANISH FORT, ALSeptember 23rd, 1929 - January 31st, 2017Charles G. Davis, 87, formerly of Birmingham, AL, died on Tuesday, January 31st, 2017 in Bay Minette, AL. Charles was the son of Lee Roy Davis and Annie Myrtle Davis Cochran. He grew up in Birmingham, where he attended Phillips High School. In September, 1949, he married Dee Bowers at Norwood Baptist Church. He proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. Charles was a member of Huffman Baptist Church for 53 years. He retired from Pemco Aeroplex as Inspector, after 40 years of service. Charles loved to garden, and was a member of the Birmingham Rose Society for 12 years. In 2005, he and his wife, Dee, moved to Daphne, AL, where they joined the congregation at Eastern Shore Baptist Church. He belonged to the Dovloi Sunday School Class there. We remember Charles for the love that he had for his family and church, his talents in the garden and in the kitchen, his ability to fix just about anything, and his enthusiasm for Auburn Football. Charles is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dee Davis; his children, Patricia (David) O’Hear and Linda (Anthony) Nelson; grandchildren, Jeremy (Becky) Nelson, Jennifer (Daniel) Carter, Callie O’Hear, and Todd Nelson; and great grandchildren, Belle and Brenna Tassin and Davis Carter. Visitation will be held at Eastern Shore Baptist Church on Monday, February 6th from 10 to 11 o’clock in the morning. A funeral will immediately follow at 11am. There will a burial ceremony at 1:30 that afternoon at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort.
