FOLEY, ALABAMA Harold Richard Glenn, age 71, a resident of Foley, AL passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017. He was born on December 24, 1945, and raised in the metro-Detroit area by Harold Lyman and Berenice Meier Glenn. He was a graduate of Nativity of Our Lord High School in Detroit, and after marrying Barbara Ann Sute in April of 1967, went on to serve in the US Army in Vietnam. Afterwards, he went on to earn a dual degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from McComb County Community College, and he worked for Lectron Products in Detroit. Rich and his family moved to Foley in 1979, where he founded G.E.S. Electric, which he owned and operated for nearly 40 years. He also became a member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, where he served actively in many roles, including the Parish Council, as an Usher and Administrator of the Cemetery. In 1990, Rich joined the Foley Volunteer Fire Department, where he served in several leadership positions over the years. He was awarded numerous Safety and Training Awards and was named Volunteer Firefighter of the Year multiple times. Rich has also served the City of Foley as the Chairman of the Code Board of Appeals. Some of his personal and professional affiliations include: the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, the National Association of Fire Investigators, Society of Manufacturing Engineering, National Federation of Independent Businesses, National Notary Association, International Association of Electrical Inspectors, Baldwin County Homebuilders Association and the National Fire Protection Association. Rich is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara, his two daughters Debbie Glenn (John) Freeman and Christine Glenn (Jared) Graham , five grand-daughters, a sister, Barbara Glenn (John) Ambrogio as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews , great nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 10am in the vestibule of St. Margaret’s of Scotland Catholic Church on US 98 in Foley, with the funeral mass at 11am. Interment will follow in St. Margaret’s of Scotland Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Rich’s honor be made to the St. Margaret’s of Scotland Catholic Church Building Fund.
