JoAn Marie Burt

FAIRHOPE, AL JoAn Marie Burt, age 80, a native of Kansas, and a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away January 4, 2017. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and Fairhope’s Order of the Eastern Star. JoAn was active in various community organizations in Mobile. She was also a volunteer hospital Chaplain at several VA Hospitals in Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph L. and Clara R. Burt; daughter, Pam Herrington; brothers, Ralph, Jr., Don, and Jim Burt. JoAn is survived by her son, Alan L. Herrington (Debbie) of Fairhope; grandsons, Mark Herrington of Fairhope, Ryan Ashcraft of Pensacola, FL, Justin Ashcraft of Staunton, VA and Jason Starkey of Oceanside, CA; great granddaughter, Pam Ashcraft of Pensacola, FL. A private service will be held at a later date in Garden City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in JoAn’s memory, be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
