FAIRHOPE, ALDr. Jack Raymond Cahall passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 in Fairhope, AL. Dr. Cahall was born in New Orleans, LA and a longtime resident of Fairhope. Dr. Cahall travelled the world extensively engaged in military affairs and international business. He served as a decorated aviator in the Air Force and paratrooper in the U.S. Army Special Forces during several wars, and undertook various military assignments and missions. As an international business man, he owned and operated several successful businesses. Dr. Cahall graduated from Harvard University Graduate School of Business, the Walden Institute, and attended post-graduate studies at Tulane University Graduate School, as well as participating in several special military schools. He was also a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. He was also a life member of the following associations, the JFK School of Warfare, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Special Forces Association. He was a member of the Harvard Club, Air Force Association, the Korean War Veterans Association, the National Defense Association, the 1st Special Forces Regiment, the International House, International Association of Chiefs of Police, the American Legion, and the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce Crime Abatement Committee. He was also a Honorary Captain of the New Orleans Police Department receiving a Certificate of Service from the City of New Orleans, and from Pope John Paul, II on the Pope’s visit to New Orleans. He also received a Certificate Award from the President of the Republic of Korea. Dr. Cahall was preceded in death by his father, Yerby W. Cahall, Sr., his mother, Yvonne Marie LaRose, and brothers, Yerby W. Cahall, Jr. Alvin N. Cahall, Sr., grandmother, Marie Cecile LaRose, and nephew Alvin N. Cahall, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Janet Anne St. Denis, Esq., grandniece, Michell Cahall Thornton, her husband, Tribbey Thornton and their children, Cameron and Aliese Thornton. A Memorial mass will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to mass. Honorary pallbearers are Bob W. Pope, Tribbey Thornton, Mark Burns, and H. Leroy Sargent. A private interment will be held at a later date at Lake Lawn Cemetery, New Orleans. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church or The Haven.
