SPANISH FORT, ALDorothy Kuhlmann 88 of Spanish Fort died Sunday December 18 at home surrounded by her family.Dorothy was born January 15, 1928 on the family farm in Oakridge, Minnesota. Her parents were John and Rose Guenther. Dorothy graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic school in Rollingstone Minnesota and Winona secretarial school. She worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota as secretarial assistant to the purchasing department.On December 30th, 1947 Dorothy married the love of her life, Lt. Duane Kuhlmann.Dorothy was a devoted military wife for 32 years enjoying travels to Air Force bases in the United Stated and in Germany. She was very active in the Officer’s Wives club at each base. Dorothy was an avid golfer and tennis player winning numerous tournaments in Shaw AFB South Carolina and at the Landings in Savannah Georgia. She enjoyed playing bridge throughout her married life including her group the Daphne Bridge Buffs. Dorothy was a devout Catholic throughout her life. She was a member of St. John’s in Bromley at the time of her death.Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Colonel (Retired) Duane Kuhlmann, seven children, John Kuhlmann ( Rosie), Illinois, Jenny Zinn ( Bob), North Carolina, Tom Kuhlmann ( Kerry), Washington, Karen Sher (Dr. Andy), Texas, Fritzs Bassel ( Steve), Texas, Dr. Greg Kuhlmann (Stephanie), Spanish Fort , Alabama, Chris Kuhlmann (Danielle), Colorado, 19 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Dorothy had many talents and gifts, her greatest being a loving and giving mother to her seven children.The family gives special thanks to Ursula and Kim, Dorothy’s caregivers.
