Earline Marshall van Aller “Dee Dee” Fitzhugh

d. October 27, 2016

Earline Marshall van Aller “Dee Dee” Fitzhugh Dee Dee Fitzhugh was born in Mobile, Alabama, on January 21, 1949, to Hans van Aller Jr and Earline Marshall van Aller. Dee Dee graduated from Murphy High School in 1967, where she was voted Miss Panther Spirit. She attended Auburn University where she studied Clothing, Textiles and Art, and earned her B.A. in Art from the University of South Alabama. A well-known local artist and printmaker, she won numerous awards for her artwork and shared her love of art with students at the Eastern Shore Art Center, the Continuing Education program of the University of South Alabama, and in workshops and private lessons at her home. She was noted for her versatility in both silk screen printing and painting in watercolors, acrylics and oils, but sharing her talent and artistic gifts with others was what she considered her greatest achievement. Her creative talent carried over into her design of the five homes she and Mike built in Baldwin County and in her love for gardening and landscape design. Her family and her dear friends were her joy and her inspiration. Dee Dee is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael Dean Fitzhugh of Fairhope, her son Timothy William Fitzhugh (Susan) of Daphne; daughter, Kelly Fitzhugh Weller (Joseph), and son, Michael Patrick Fitzhugh, both of Montrose. She was a loving grandmother to Caroline and Will Fitzhugh, Sophie, Ansley and Isabelle Weller, and Kiana, Payton, and Jackson Fitzhugh. She is also survived by her mother, Earline Hancock, her brother Hans van Aller III (Bridget), her brothers-in-law John Fitzhugh (Robin) and The Rev’d Mark Fitzhugh (Cheri Smith), and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow. Private interment will be held at Montrose Cemetery.
