FAIRHOPE, AL Elmer Lee Ratliff passed away peacefully on Monday, September 26, 2016. Mr. Ratliff was born in Perry, OK, on April 10, 1929 and at the age of four, moved with his family to Chickasha, OK, where his father took over the family business. Elmer graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1951 with a degree in Business Administration. Elmer’s business career throughout his adult years was as varied as the dinner theater in Dallas, TX, to a modular housing plant in Hutchinson, KS, to a small sun room business on the Eastern Shore after his move to Alabama. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Verma Ratliff and a brother, Ronnie. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Ratliff of Fairhope and their three children, Gregory Ratliff (Isabel)of Spain, Reeder Ratliff (Laura) of Oklahoma City, OK, and Megan Conwell (James) of Fairhope; eight grandchildren, Paul Ratliff, John Ratliff, Ines Ratliff, William Ratliff, Christina Ratliff, Jack Conwell (Jamie), Joseph Conwell and Henry Conwell; one great grandson, Jack Conwell; sister, Ima Jean Crane of Traverse City, MI; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Elmer’s Life will be held Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral, Fairhope. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Elmer was a Mason and his charity of choice was The Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to this hospital or a charity of your choice.
