FAIRHOPE, AL Curtis Jackson Windley, age 87, a native of Chesapeake, VA and resident of Fairhope, AL , passed away Friday, July 1, 2016. After high school in Currituck, NC, he served in the US Coast Guard from 1947 to 1952, discharged as 2nd class engineer. After his discharge he worked for the Texaco Marine Department starting as an oiler and working up to Chief Engineer until 1965. He worked for the US Army Logistics Division as a logistics specialist in Vietnam and the worked for NOAA Research ships as a chief engineer from 1966 to 1971. He returned to Texaco Inc. as a Port Engineer in Philadelphia from 1971 to 1973. He left to return to Federal Service as a Port Engineer with the Panama Canal Company from 1973 to 1977. In 1977 he returned to the US as a ship surveyor for the Department of the Army, Directorate of Logistics, at Fort Eustis until his retirement in 1988. Curtis will be remember as a dedicated father who encouraged and supported his children to follow their dreams, as a loving husband, and as a fun and extraordinary grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Windley of Fairhope, AL; daughter, Susan Windley-Daoust (Jerry), of Winona, MN; sons, John Windley (Amy) of Knoxville, TN, Mark Windley (Jesse) of Williamsburg, VA; half-brother, Martin Roaseau (Mary Lou) of Hampton, VA; grandchildren, Benjamin, Maria, Julia, Alex and Matthew of Winona, MN, Owen and Samuel of Knoxville, TN, Thomas and Austin of Williamsburg, VA; many other relatives and friends. Graveside services and internment will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at 2:00pm, in Memory Gardens of Fairhope. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, stjude.org , or Reese’s Rainbow, P. O.
