MOBILE, AL Florence Ava Haynes Vining died June 27, 2016. She was born February 16, 1921, in Beaumont, Texas to the late Mary Louise and Richard Haynes. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years Paul Christopher Vining and by four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by three daughters, Frances Erickson (Fred) of Austin, Texas; Tanamara Fleming of Mobile, Alabama and Martha Follis (Jim) of Meridian, Mississippi; and by her sister Mary Louise Buffington (Charles) of San Antonio, Texas. Her four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren will miss their “Mimi” and “Flossie.” She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairhope, Alabama. She taught children’s Bible study in the First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and the First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. In Tuscaloosa, she established a Singles Department in the church where she not only taught young women Bible study, but spent many hours mentoring and discipling them. She and her husband owned Vining Jewelers in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for 35 years, and both worked tirelessly throughout the state and nation to educate and support others in the jewelry industry. She served as President of the Alabama Retail Jewelers Association Auxiliary. As a Registered Bridal Consultant, she worked with young brides to advise and encourage them as they began their own homes. Graveside services and interment will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Memory Gardens of Fairhope. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, Fairhope, 300 South Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532 or to a donor’s favorite charity.
