Mrytle "Dodie" Smith

MOBILE, AL  Myrtle Dolores Lee “Dodie” Smith, born October 22, 1928 in Mobile, AL, a longtime resident of Mobile and Fairhope, AL and most recently residing with family in Hurley ,MS and Mobile, AL. Dodie was preceded in death by a son, Michael Thomas Moody Smith, her husband, David B. “Bud” Smith of 65 years, her parents, Ruth Virginia (DeBinder) Lee and John Edward Lee, brother, Robert E. Lee, sister, Sharon E. Lee, brothers-in-law, Oscar Vernon Smith and Lee Petrie, grandson, Raymond Smith and nephew, Greg Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, George Smith, Phillip (Missy) Smith, daughters, Diane (Mike) Stewart, Mary Beth (Gary) Marmon, 21 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings, Elizabeth “Betty” Smith, Ruth “Bootsie” Petrie, Mabel (Bill) Griffin, John (Barbara) Lee and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Dodie held many positions in her community during her life through various church and volunteer organizations. Her devotion earned her Knights of Columbus Woman of the Year and various other honors. She will be remembered by her love of nature and life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 am at Little Flower Catholic Church with Father Thomas Joseph as Celebrant and Deacon Ron Martin.
