George Ernest Uhlig, Jr.

December 29, 1933 — March 14, 2016

DAPHNE George E. Uhlig, age 82, a native of Hooper, NE. and a resident of Daphne, passed away Monday, March 14, 2016. He is preceded by his wife, Nancy Uhlig. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, watching Nebraska football, the Chicago Cubs and spending time with his family, friends and pets. George was a graduate of the University of Nebraska, and Dean of the College of Education at the University of South Alabama for over 25 years. Before moving to Alabama in 1976, while still at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he was a founding member of the United States Sports Academy. He was Editor and publisher of The Journal of Instructional Psychology. During his career, he also served on many professional boards and committees including the Alabama School of Math & Science. George is survived by his daughter, Piper N. Uhlig of Daphne and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2016, 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Jubilee Memorial Gardens In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Florida Keeshond Rescue (floridakeeshondrescue.org) or the American Heart Association.
