SAMPLE GULF SHORES, AL Marion Louise Sample of Gulf Shores, Alabama was born June 14, 1934 in Birmingham, Alabama and passed away on January 28, 2016. She is survived by her two daughters, Judy deLacee Corbett (Jyon) and Holly Ann (Brad) Stubbiefield; one son, Mark Eugene (Tammy) Sample; five grandchildren, Brittany deLacee Corbett, Lauren Michelle Corbett, Jyon L. Corbett III, Lydia McLain and Jessie Garner; three sisters, Judy Ricci, Shirley Rost and Doris Donovan; one brother, Gerald M. Freeman. Louise was the oldest of six children and “bossy” at times. She was a faithful member of Mountain Brook Baptist Church and Gulf Shores United Methodist Church and active in civic causes including her alma matar Samford University. She was a beloved teacher for twenty-six years at Hewitt Trussville Junior High, Hemphill Elementary, and Gates City Elementary. Louise had a great sense of humor and loved to make others happy. She often said, “Isn’t is great being a Christian-see ya in Heaven one day. Let’s meet at the corner of Hallelujah Avenue and Salvation Street.” A Celebration of Marion’s Life will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:30pm at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00pm until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home or Bread Ministry at Gulf Shores United Methodist Church.
