James (Cheech) Giannettino, Sr.

James N. (Cheech) Giannettino, Sr., age 63, of Fairhope, AL, died unexpectedly Friday, December 11, 2015. Cheech was born in Auburn, NY and is a resident of Fairhope, AL. He grew up in the Syracuse, NY area, graduated from West Hill High School, enlisted in the USAF and attended Auburn Community College, Auburn, NY. He was employed at Austeel until moving to Alabama to continue in the steel industry with Tuscaloosa Steel, ThyssenKrupp and AM/NS. He was an avid University of Alabama football fan and sometimes admitted to rooting for the Auburn Tigers. Cheech also enjoyed traveling in their RV, his time at the beach, hunting at Fruitdale Country Club and Big Buck Hunting Club, and his Great Pyrenees, Abby. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Elisa (Galbato) Giannettino; his sons James, Jr. (Toni) of Auburn, NY, Eric (Leslie) of San Diego, CA, Jerry (Jenn) Kadien of Marietta, GA and Nicholas (Kathy) Kadien of Clearwater, FL; a sister, Sharon Nigro; two brothers, Sam (Amy) and Tom (MaryLou) and their mother, Rose Marie; sister-in-law Eleanor Beck, and brothers-in-law David (Cate) Galbato and Michael Galbato; his grandchildren, Ian, Alexis, Andrew, Gracie and Erica Giannettino; Joseph, Addison and Jack Kadien; Angel, Juanito, Annaie and Giovanni Cortez; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his family, Cheech is also survived by many friends, coworkers, and his extended “Alabama Family”. Cheech was preceded in death by his father Sam Sr., his mother Shirley Jean and her husband Sam Magro. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, AL. A Celebration of Cheech’s Life will be held at a later date in Auburn, NY.
