Donald R Dukes

Staff Sergeant Donald R. Dukes – July 14, 1941 – October 29, 2015. Don was a resident of Fairhope, AL and native of Baldwin County. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp including active service in the Vietnam War. He retired from the Marines to Baldwin County and purchased and established Baldwin Heating & Air, a family owned and operated small business. He was a long time member of the Elks Club and Veteran of Foreign War. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, boating, traveling the world and visiting with his friends at Julwin’s each morning for breakfast. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fiancée and constant pet companion, Sophie Jean. He is preceded in death by his wife, Winifred M. Dukes. He is survived by his fiancée, Betty Ray Crabtree; his daughters, Donna Marie Cummings (Walter), and Paula Ann Stewart (Steven); son, Steve Dukes (Natalie); his grandchildren, David Lay (Dana), Mandy Calvert (Rivers), Brittany Thompson (Gavin), Lilah, Rylee, Emma and Coleman Dukes; great-grandchildren, Zander & Zoey Calvert, Brayden, Bryson, Brentley, & Brennan Lay, and Lane Thompson. The family and community will celebrate the life of Don at Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church, Friday, November 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private interment will be held at a later time.
