William Melvin Brantley, M.D., age 85, a resident of Fairhope, AL passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015. Dr. Brantley began his premedical training at Auburn University in Auburn, AL, continued his education at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA with specialization in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He was a staff member of the Medical Center Hospital for fifteen years, then with Odessa Women’s and Children’s Hospital, where he was active for thirteen years. Over his career, he delivered more than 8,500 babies and cared for more than 125,000 patients. Throughout his life, he was known for giving generously both financially and through his personal efforts to improve the quality of life for those around him. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Mary Lindsey and Charles Palma Brantley and his sister Voncile Brantley Cornwell. He is survived by his children, Rebecca Sue Brantley McCamey and her husband Robert, Charles Palma Brantley, Lindsey Shayne Brantley, and Angela Elizabeth Brantley Strifler; grandchildren Mason, Brantley and Marshall McCamey, Braxton Brantley, and Shea, Sydney and Seth Strifler; and sister, Esteree Brantley Grogan. Graveside services will be held Friday, June 12, 2015 at 11:00am at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 2367 Nixon Rd., McKenzie, AL, 36456.
