Dr. George Lassett

Dr. George Walton Lassett, age 89, of Fairhope, AL, died Friday, May 8, 2015. He was born October 9, 1925 in Citronelle, AL. George received a BA and MA from Mississippi College, Masters in Theology from NOBTS, and honorary doctorate from Yellowstone Baptist College. He pastored churches in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. He held numerous interim pastorates in Baldwin County, AL. He was Interim Minister of Education and Administration at First Baptist Church, Fairhope and Pastor Emeritus at First Baptist Churches, Foley and Silver Hill. He was a retired Chaplain (Lieutenant Colonel) with 24 years in the US Army Reserve including active duty in WWII, Cuban Crisis, and Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Schutz Lassett; son, Bill Lassett; daughter, Deborah Duncan (Greg); five grandchildren, Josh Lassett (Jennie), Sarah Munson (Scott), Leah Law (Todd), Natalie Duncan (Kacey), and Emily Peters (Bob); five great grandchildren, Grace Lassett, Brianna Law, Peyton Law, Graham Peters, and Grayson Munson. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, Fairhope, with visitation beginning at 12:00 until service time. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm at Alabama State Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, AL.
