FAIRHOPE, AL Cora Mae Kintz McMurry, age 77, former resident of Seattle, WA and resident of Fairhope, AL passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015. She was the product of a catholic boarding school, the daughter of an entrepreneur who grew up on a boat, she graduated from the University of Washington in 1959. She taught Home Economics for thirty years in the Edmonds School District, WA. Cora Mae was very active with the Silverfish Synchronized Swimming Team at the University of Washington. In the 1960’s she founded a synchronized swimming team at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle She then traveled the world coaching and promoting the sport on the eve of it being introduced as a part of the Olympics, producing several national champions. In the 1990’s she had a custom clothier business in Colorado. Cora Mae was an integral part of Newcomer’s Club in both Montgomery and Fairhope, AL. The consummate teacher, her love of family and educating was unending. She is survived by her husband, Bryce E. McMurry, Jr. of Fairhope, AL; a son, Bryce E. (Diana) McMurry, III of Fairhope; brother, Clarence A. Kintz, Jr. of Bellingham, WA; three grandchildren, Bryce E. McMurry, IV, Cruz G. McMurry, Montez T. McMurry and numerous other loving relatives and friends. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Colony Cemetery, Fairhope, AL at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Fairhope. A Celebration of Cora Mae’s Life will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the Washington Athletic Club in Seattle, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Mexico Military Institute Foundation, 101 West College Blvd., Roswell, NM 88201.
