Myrtice Eleanor West

On Tuesday, February 3, 2015, Myrtice Eleanor Flirt West, age 91, passed into everlasting glory. She was a resident of Golden Living Nursing Center Foley at the time of her passing. Myrtice was born in Mobile, Alabama on June 29, 1923, and grew up in the Gasque/Smithville community on the Fort Morgan peninsula. Her legacy is one of wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and Sunday school teacher, all while being a devout believer in the Lord. Myrtice was a member of Eastern Star Foley Chapter. She was preceded in death by her parents, father William Bragg Flirt, mother Mary Eleanor Smith Flirt, husband Forrest Lillard West Sr., brother Irwin Flirt, sisters Mabel Flirt Langford, Melba Flirt, sons Forrest Lillard West Jr., Blake West, and daughter Judy West. She is survived by granddaughter Jeffre Lynn West and grandson Scott Lucas West, six great grandchildren, and numerous cousins. Myrtice had a great sense of humor, loved her extended family, and especially it’s place in history on the Fort Morgan peninsula. The family would like to express its profound gratitude to the director and staff of Golden Living Nursing Center Foley for their love and care of Myrtice these past six years. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Shellbanks Baptist Church Cemetery, Fort Morgan road, at 2 pm. The family would like to suggest in lieu of flowers that a memorial contribution be made to the Alzheimers Foundation, the Alzheimers Association, or to the charity of your choice.
