Julius Myrick Cannon, Jr. age 80, native of Mt. Vernon, AL and resident of Lillian passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015. Julius graduated from Citronelle High and retired from Norfolk Southern RR with 44 years of service. In his second career he was employed by Brett-Robinson. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lillian where he was an usher for many years and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Julius was passionate about running, he continued to run way into his 70's and was a original member of the LA Fleet Feet, he was a member of the Bay Area Runners, Port City Pacers and Pensacola Runners. He is survived by his wife, Jeanne A. Cannon of Lillian; two daughters, Rebecca (Bob) Dunnavant of Saraland, Montez (Thomas) Smith of Mobile; four sons, Julius M. “Ricky” (Gwen) Cannon of Mobile, Britt Sartan of Mobile, Chris Sartan of Lucedale, MS, Steve Sartan of Lillian; two brothers, John Cannon (Suk)of Ft. Walton Beach, Steve Cannon (Carolann) of Citronelle; one sister, Jo Anne Fagan (J.L.) of Ft. Walton Beach; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Julius was an avid AUBURN FAN, WAR EAGLE!! A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass.
