DAPHNE Betty Jane Palmer (Nelson), 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2015, in her Lake Forest home in Daphne, Alabama. Betty will be remembered for her love of gardening, fine food, and the Green Bay Packers. She was a devoted Christian who was actively involved in the Belforest Christian Church in Daphne, Alabama, and the Sunnyview Christian Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Betty was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, on March 11, 1924, and graduated as valedictorian from Ladysmith High School in 1942. On August 16, 1946, she married Wayne Edgar Palmer. They started their family in Ladysmith with daughters Debra and Sandra. The family later relocated to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where Wayne accepted a position with Morgan Millwork. Their third child, Craig, was born in Oshkosh, which was where they raised all three children. She and Wayne founded the Sunnyview Christian Church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in 1958. In 2000, Betty and Wayne moved to Daphne, Alabama. Both were members of the Belforest Christian Church in Daphne, Alabama, and she remained a member for eleven years after the passing of Wayne in 2003. Betty is survived by her daughters, Debra Glader (Paul) and Sandra Palmer; her son, Craig Palmer (Karyn); and her grandchildren, Sara Glader, Caitlin Robitaille, and Jesse Robitaille (Megan). A memorial will be held at 11 am Saturday, January 17 at the Belforest Christian Church at 25270 County Road 54 West in Daphne, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wounded Warriors, the Samaritan’s Purse, Jenanne Beckmann in care of Osaka Christian Mission, Belforest Christian Church, and the Sunnyview Christian Church are suggested.
