Eleanor passed away peacefully at her home in Fairhope at the age of 97. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she moved to Westfield, NY at a young age. She attended Florida State College for Women where she obtained a Home Economics degree in Dietetics and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She interned as a dietitian at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn. Following marriage to Griffin, the Army took them to Seattle, WA where she practiced dietetics. After the War, she became a stay-at-home mom. Griffin's career took them from Pensacola, FL to New Orleans, LA to Mobile, AL and Plantation, FL. Upon Griffin's death, she moved to Fairhope, AL in 1967 and became a Social Worker for the State until retiring in 1982. Eleanor was an active person always with a project at hand such as knitting, counted cross stitch, needlepoint and gardening. She volunteered for Eastern Shore Art Center, Thomas Hospital Auxiliary and Adult Literacy. Eleanor treasured her membership and friendships at Trinity Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon, Elder and Trustee and was an honorary life member in Presbyterian Women. She was proud of her heritage and served in many offices including Regent of the Ecor Rouge Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Other organizations in which she held numerous leadership positions included William Smith Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century, Gulf Coast Colony of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Alabama, P.E.O. and Wisteria Garden Club. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents Rosetta Anna Culver Scott and William Victor Scott; her husband Lucius Griffin Brandon; her sister, Altha Ann Scott Hanson; her brother, William Clement Scott; her son, Michael Griffin Brandon Sr. and granddaughter, Merideth Rose Brandon. Eleanor is survived by her son, Patric Jackson (Nancy) Brandon of Fairhope AL; her grandchildren: Randy Scott (Heather) of Frisco TX, Jeffrey Patric (Heather) Brandon of Centennial CO, Michael Ryan (Sarah) Brandon of Brentwood TN, Lindsey Brandon (Robert) Kerr of Charlotte NC and Michael Griffin Brandon Jr. of Imperial Beach CA; 8 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Following a family graveside service at Montrose Cemetery, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, January 16 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 545 South Mobile St. in Fairhope with a reception to follow at Trinity Hall. Eleanor was a loved and admired mother, grandmother, friend and role model who will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church or the charity of their choice.
